What began with hoof studs for horses led to the production of spikes for motor vehicles in the millions.
The relationship with the largest partner, WIDIA Krupp Stahl, was red-hot in the truest sense of the word. The general ban on spikes in 1975 hit the company all the harder. Overnight, the sales driver collapsed and led the company to the brink of ruin.
Taps as a second mainstay enabled Mack & Schneider to continue to exist and paved the way for the first automotive valve application.
